Privacy guidelines
Criteo strives to maintain a trusted advertising ecosystem aligned with the marketing goals and brand requirements of our buyers and sellers alike. As part of its obligations, Criteo has adopted privacy guidelines that its advertiser clients must adhere to.
Because transparency, user choice, and responsible data practices are foundational to a healthy digital environment, every advertiser must ensure that their website or app provides clear information about data collection and offers appropriate consent or opt-out mechanisms where required by applicable law. These expectations reflect Criteo’s long-standing commitment to privacy and compliance with global standards such as the GDPR in the European Union, the CCPA/CPRA in the United States, and the LGPD in Brazil.
As part of our onboarding and verification process, Criteo checks that advertisers meet certain baseline privacy requirements before campaigns can be activated. These include:
A publicly accessible Privacy Policy
A cookie or consent banner where required by applicable law
A visible opt-out mechanism where applicable (for example, “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the United States)
If these criteria are not met, advertisers may not be approved to run on the Criteo platform until these mandatory privacy requirements are implemented.
Criteo reserves the right to reject or remove an advertiser from its network or suspend access to the Criteo Platforms temporarily or permanently, at its sole discretion.
To ensure that advertisers understand what is required for onboarding, the following elements must be present and functional on your website. These components support transparency, empower users with meaningful choices, and align with widely recognized global privacy standards.
Your Privacy Disclosures Must Be Accurate and Up to Date
Criteo expects advertisers to maintain accurate, transparent disclosures, including:
Updated Privacy Policies when data practices evolve
Cookie banner configurations aligned with the tags implemented
Rights descriptions matching regional legal frameworks
Honest, plain-language explanations that help users understand how their data is used
